Porterville drops doubleheader to Ohlone

The Porterville College Pirates couldn't get much going offensively in a pair of losses to visiting Ohlone College on Wednesday. PC dropped the opener 10-0 in 8 innings and fell 15-2 in Game 2.

Game 1: Ohlone 10, Porterville 0
Ohlone got off to a fast start and scored three runs in the top of the first inning to jump ahead for good. PC totaled just three hits in the contest, getting singles from Moses Garza and Chris Brandon as well as a double off the bat of Isaiah Moscorro.

Alfredo Vasquez took the loss in the opener, tossing three innings while allowing three runs and three hits.

Game 2: Ohlone 15, Porterville 2
The Pirates finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth, rallying for a pair of runs. Unfortunately, they already trailed by 15 runs at that point.

Leeland Crawford hit a one-out double and two batters later came in to score on a RBI single by Nico Portillo. Garza followed by a single to load the bases before Matt Cox's ground out brought in Brandon Dodd with PC's second run.

Portillo and Garza both went 2 for 4 to lead the Pirates at the plate.

Ricky Reyes opened the game with two scoreless innings before Ohlone finally got its offense going in the fourth with a four-run rally. Derek Steidly II took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs and three hits over two innings.

David Jimenez also added a scoreless inning of relief for the Pirates.

Porterville is still in search of its first win of the season and is 0-11 overall. The Pirates return to action on Friday (Feb. 22) when they begin a three-game series at Modesto Junior College.
