Pirates Earn Six All-Central Valley Conference Honors
Following the close of the 2024 Porterville College softball regular season, six members of the Pirates received All-Central Valley Conference postseason awards.
Named first-team All-CVC were freshman Ciarra Foakes and sophomore Taylor Norman. Also for PC, sophomore Kate Lowry, sophomore Kayla Ponting, sophomore Monea Posadas, and freshman Alysa Hernadez were selected All-CVC honorable mention.
Foakes, a Sparks, Nevada native, put together an impressive first season for the Pirates. Over 33 games, the first baseman batted an amazing .427 on the season (38 for 89) while leading PC with 38 hits, 11 doubles, and 22 RBI. Her .427 batting average ranked second in the conference.
Norman, an outfielder originally out of Altamont, Utah, had a .344 batting average (31 for 90) with 16 RBI, 16 walks, and 14 runs.
Lowry (Ogden, UT) was solid behind the dish for the Pirates. Ponting (Arvada, CO) was a versatile player for PC, having played first base, pitcher, second base, and outfield this past season. Posadas (Monache HS) hit .265 with 27 hits and 16 RBI. Hernadez (Monache HS) pitched in 30 games, starting 22 for the Pirates. She tossed 13 complete games and struck out 38 batters.
