Porterville falls in three to No. 25 Merced

Porterville College had a tough time connecting on offense as the Pirates suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 25 state-ranked Merced College on Friday at home.

PC lost the Central Valley Conference match by scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-14 to fall to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the CVC. Merced kept its undefeated record and moved to 8-0.

Juliet Garcia led Porterville with 6 kills on the night while Madysen Clower and Emily Baeza chipped in with 4 kills each.

Maggie Zanazzo had a team-best 15 assists and Derica Ferris posted 13 digs.

Porterville will look to snap a five-match losing streak on Wednesday (Oct. 3) when the Pirates travel to Taft College for a 6 p.m. CVC contest.
