Angilau season-high 15 kills leads PC to win vs. West Hills Lemoore

Freshman middle blocker Kuea Angilau slammed down a season-best 15 kills to help lead the Porterville College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over visiting West Hills College Lemoore on Friday.

The 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21 Central Valley Conference win improved the Pirates to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the CVC.

Angilau, a two-sport standout at PC, made her biggest mark on the volleyball court for the Pirates. The all-conference softball player from last spring compiled a .375 attack percentage on the night, committing just three errors with her 15 kills on 32 attempts. Angilau also added a pair of blocks and a dig.

But it was a complete team effort that led to the win. Jocelyn Sanchez totaled 12 kills, five digs, four aces, and three blocks while Juliet Garcia also had a good all-around match with 11 kills, 15 digs, and two blocks.

Also contributing to the victory was Paige Borges with nine kills, seven blocks, and three digs as well as Karissa Jones with a match-high 25 digs. Yvette Hernandez chipped in with 11 digs while Emily Kissick played well with six kills and nine digs.

Maggie Zanazzo paced the offense with 51 assists to go along with 15 digs, and two blocks.

The Pirates face a huge task in their upcoming match as they travel to face No. 3 state-ranked Fresno City College on Thursday (Oct. 10).
