Porterville opens conference play with rout at Reedley

Darion "DJ" Wilson went off for 23 points while Da'Morea Green added 16 points and 9 rebounds to help lead Porterville College to an 84-64 win at Reedley College in both teams' Central Valley Conference opener on Thursday night.

The Pirates' second consecutive win evened their overall record at 6-6 and moved them to 1-0 in CVC play. Porterville held a 45-49 advantage at the break and was able to pull away in the second.

Wilson tied his season-high in scoring while shooting 10-for-16 with a pair of three-pointers. He added 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Green was nearly perfect, making 7 of 9 shots. He also contributed a pair of steals, a blocked shot and an assist. Germaine Caldwell Jr. also had a big game off the bench, chipping in with 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Porterville will look to keep the winning momentum going when the Pirates return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 9). PC is at West Hills College Lemoore for a 5 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
