Pirates pick up 10-3 conference win over Taft

PORTERVILLE – Taylor Norman and Ciarra Foakes both drove in three runs each while Kayla Ponting smashed a solo home run to help lead Porterville College to a 10-3 Central Valley Conference win over visiting Taft College on Monday.

The Pirates jumped ahead early, tagging Taft pitcher Isabella Navarro for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. PC added two more in the second and broke the game open with another four-run rally in the third to take a commanding 10-0 lead.

Norman had a big game on offense, going 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, a triple, and 3 RBI. Foakes was 3 for 4 as well, adding a double and 3 RBI while scoring three times.

Alyssa Hernandez went the distance in the circle for the win. She allowed 2 earned runs and 7 hits over 7 innings.

The win improved Porterville to 2-7 in the CVC and 4-22 overall.
