Pirates snap losing streak with 5-4 win at Taft

TAFT – The Porterville College baseball team is finally back in the win column.

A 5-4 victory in the finale of a three-game Central Valley Conference series at Taft College on Saturday snapped a season-worse 13-game losing streak.

Trailing 4-2 late in the contest, the Pirates rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull out the win. Stefan Leo smashed a two-run home run to even up the score while a two-out Taft error allowed Koda Larsen to come in with the go-ahead run.

Leo went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and scored a pair of runs while Luca Dincola went a perfect 4 for 4 with a run and RBI.

Jacob Watson, who tossed the final four innings for the Pirates, closed out the victory by striking out TC's Sebastian Cabeza with the tying run on base. Watson struck out six and walked four in earning the win.

Porterville improved to 5-24 overall and 2-13 in Central Valley Conference play. The Pirates are back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 4) when they are scheduled to face Antelope Valley College and LA Pierce College in a pair of non-conference games in Lancaster.
