Porterville splits doubleheader with West Hills Coalinga

PORTERVILLE – Lulu Flores and Megan Watt both drove in three runs each while Alysa Hernandez tossed a complete game in the circle to help lead Porterville College to a 12-2 win over visiting West Hills College Coalinga in the opening game of a Central Valley Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Pirates needed just five innings to complete the mercy-rule victory, using a big eight-run rally in the bottom of the fourth to put the run-rule into effect.

Flores had a huge game offensively, going a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate with a walk and sacrifice. She smacked a double, stole a base, scored 3 runs, and had 3 RBI. Watt also totaled 3 RBI, going 1 for 2 with a walk and run.

Rubi Guzman scored twice, going 2 for 4 while Monea Posadas was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Hernandez struck out three batters over her outing. She allowed 6 hits and allowed 0 earned runs.

Porterville couldn't keep the momentum going in Game 2 and suffered an 8-4 loss to the Falcons. Ciarra Foakes was 3 for 4 with a triple and RBI while Charlee Roseberry (2 for 3) had a pair of hits and 1 RBI.
