Women's Basketball: Jackson 29 points, 16 rebounds not enough in loss to Reedley

Sophomore forward Denisheun Jackson continued her dominance on the court for the Pirates by scoring 29 points and grabbing 16 rebounds but Porterville College still came up short in a narrow 84-79 loss to visiting Reedley College on Saturday night.

The two squads battled throughout the contest as PC and Reedley were tied at 34 after two quarters and entered the final period knotted up at 57 points each. But Reedley went on to outscore Porterville 27-22 over the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Jackson earned her 12th double-double of the season and scored in double digits for her 16th consecutive game. Her 29 points were just two off her season-high of 31 that she scored vs. Imperial Valley College on Nov. 18.

Sophomore Lauren Beath also completed a double-double with a15 points and 10 rebounds while sophomore Sydney Tobias contributed 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

The Central Valley Conference loss dropped Porterville to 3-13 overall and 0-2 in conference play. PC will look to snap its five-game losing streak next Saturday (Jan. 14) when the Pirates travel to College of the Sequoias for a 7 p.m. CVC game.
