Women's Basketball: Porterville snaps losing streak with big win over Taft

Sophomores Lauren Beath and Denisheun Jackson both picked up double-doubles to help lead Porterville College to a much-needed 72-48 rout over visiting Taft College on Wednesday night.

The Central Valley Conference win snapped PC's six-game losing streak and improved the Pirates to 4-14 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Porterville set the tone early as the Pirates jumped out to a 17-5 advantage after the first quarter and never trailed. PC was up 36-19 at halftime.

Beath scored a season-high 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds to secure her second double-double over her past three games. Jackson lit up the stat sheet for 17 points and 14 boards for her 13th double-double of the season. She's also scored in double figures in all 18 games this season.

Sophomore Rosario Herrera chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds while freshman Gabby Martinez came off the bench to score nine points.

Porterville returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 21) when the Pirates travel to No. 7-Northern California ranked Fresno City College for a 7 p.m. CVC game.
