Facing the No. 5-ranked team in the state with no reserves on its bench, the Porterville College Pirates suffered an 85-29 Central Valley Conference loss at College of the Sequoias on Wednesday in Visalia.
After Sayla Argulles nailed a three-pointer to give PC an early lead, the Pirates were held scoreless for the remainder of the first quarter. Porterville trailed 52-11 at halftime.
Sierra Perez led PC with 10 points while Arguelles added nine points. Kathy Rodriguez grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds.
Porterville, now 2-22 overall and 0-11 in conference play, closes out the 2017-18 season on Saturday (Feb. 17) when the Pirates host Reedley in a 3 p.m. game.
