Porterville College sophomore forward Maria Lopez was recently named All-Central Valley Conference honorable mention by CVC coaches at their annual postseason meeting on Tuesday.

Lopez was a bright spot in an otherwise tough season for the Pirates. She started all 25 games this season for PC and led the conference averaging 10.0 rebounds per game while her 15.3 points per game ranked third in the CVC.

Her finest game this season came on Dec. 1 in a loss to Mission College when she totaled season-highs of 27 points and 18 rebounds.

Lopez was a two-year starter for Porterville and averaged 9.2 points and 6.1 rebounds as a freshman during the 2015-16 season. She is originally out of Mendota High School.
