Porterville College Women's Volleyball rolls to sweep at Columbia

The road trip to Columbia College in Sonora took over three hours, but the time on the court was much shorter for the Porterville College Women's Volleyball team as it cruised to a 25-19, 25-8, 25-19 sweep of the Claim Jumpers on Friday.

The Central Valley Conference victory improved the PC Pirates to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The sophomore duo of Shelby Vanasen and Kendyl Estes once again led the Pirates' offensive attack. Vanasen slammed down a match-high 11 kills while Estes added 10 kills and 5 digs. Columbia had no answer for Estes' serve as she totaled an amazing 8 aces on the night.

Josie Lopez and Heidy Benitez both added 5 digs and Brandy Rico led all with 29 assists.

The massive road trip for the Pirates continues next week as Porterville will play the fifth of eight straight away matches on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at Taft College.
