Estes unstoppable in 3-1 Porterville College Volleyball win at Cerro Coso

There wasn't much that Cerro Coso Community College could do to stop Porterville College's Kendyl Estes on Friday. The sophomore from Shafter turned in a season-high 20 kills to help lead the Pirates to a 3-1 Central Valley Conference victory in Ridgecrest.

Porterville won the match by scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-16 to snap a two-match losing streak. The Pirates improved to 6-10 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Estes had an impressive night on offense for Porterville as she hit a season-high .576 for the match. On 33 attempts, Estes made just one error on her way to 20 kills. She also chipped in with three digs and two blocks.

Brooke Reilly added seven kills, three blocks, and two digs while Shelby Vanasen also had seven kills. Josie Lopez and Heidy Benitez led PC with nine digs each while Brandy Rico totaled a team-high 29 assists.

Also contributing to the win were Ashlynn Miller with five digs and four aces and Jessica Pabon with three aces and two blocks.

For Cerro Coso (1-13, 1-7 CVC), Emma Godinez led the Coyotes with 16 kills and 19 digs.

Porterville returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 12) when the Pirates travel to Reedley College for a 6 p.m. CVC match. The contest will be the final away match of the season for Porterville as the Pirates will play their final eight matches at their designated home court at Porterville High School.
