Porterville College Volleyball earns first home win with sweep of West Hills

Sophomore Callie Albison totaled a match-high 16 digs to lead the Porterville College defense in the Pirates' 25-20, 25-19, 25-12 Central Valley Conference win over visiting West Hills College Coalinga on Wednesday at Porterville High School.

The victory was Porterville's first at home in two tries this season and improved the Pirates to 8-11 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

The sophomore Dynamic Duo of Kendyl Estes and Shelby Vanasen once again led the Pirates attack. The combined for 28 of PC's 31 kills on the night as Estes had a match-best 16 kills with Vanasen hitting home 12 kills.

Sophomore Brandy Rico paced the offense with 33 assists while sophomore Heidy Benitez chipped in with six digs and an ace.

The loss dropped West Hills to 3-12 overall and 3-7 in the CVC. Dias Brittany and Selena Garza both had seven kills each to lead the Falcons.

Porterville is back home for the third of eight straight on Friday (Oct. 21) when the Pirates host Merced College in a 6 p.m. CVC match at Porterville High School.
