Women's Volleyball: Pirates fall in three at Merced

The tough stretch of the 2017 season for Porterville College continued on Friday night as the Pirates suffered a 3-0 loss at home to visiting Merced College. PC lost the Central Valley Conference match by scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-9.

The loss was Porterville's sixth straight and dropped the Pirates' record to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Porterville couldn't put much offense together as the Pirates totaled 19 kills in the match. Sophomore Brooklynne Beavers led PC with six kills while freshman Emily Baeza added five kills. Sophomore Ashlynn Miller had a good match defensively with a team-best 16 kills and sophomore Brooke Reilly totaled 12 assists.

PC will look the snap its losing streak on Wednesday (Sept. 27) when the Pirates travel to Cerro Coso College for a 5 p.m. conference match.
