Women's Volleyball: Porterville edged 3-2 in CVC match at Reedley

Porterville College is finding out wins are hard to come by this season. On Friday, the Pirates found themselves in an early 2-0 deficit, but rallied to tie up the match before ultimately falling in five sets at Reedley College in a Central Valley Conference match.

Reedley jumped ahead winning 25-11, 25-23 to greet Porterville. But PC responded by taking the third and fourth sets 25-23 and 25-14 before being outlasted 15-12 by Reedley in the deciding fifth.

Porterville totaled its second highest kills mark of the season with 38 in the match. Sophomore Brooklynne Beavers and freshman Emily Baeza both had 11 kills each to lead the Pirates. Baeza also added 12 digs and a pair of aces on an impressive night.

Freshman Rylee Jones and sophomore Ashlynn Miller were busy on the back line defensively for PC, as they collected 20 and 19 digs, respectively.

Sophomore Brooke Reilly paced the offense as she totaled 35 assists. She also added five digs and three blocks.

The loss dropped Porterville to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in CVC play. The Pirates will look to snap their three-match losing streak on Monday (Sept. 18) when they host Hartnell College in their 2017 home opener.
