Porterville College Volleyball, Basketball schedules now available online

Another exciting season of Porterville College Athletics is just around the corner, the Pirates' 2017 fall and winter sports schedules are now posted online for viewing. The Pirates will once again be competing for Central Valley Conference titles as well as California Community College Athletic Association state championships in women's volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball.

Under new head coach Pete Rasmussen, Women's Volleyball kicks off the fall season for PC on Aug. 25 when the Pirates travel to San Diego Mesa College for a non-conference match at 12 p.m. Following that match, the Pirates will hit the road to the College of Alameda in Northern California to compete in the 8th annual Cougar Classic on Saturday, Aug. 26. Porterville plays one more match on the road (Sep. 1) at Monterey Peninsula College before finally playing at home in their conference opener on Sep. 13 against West Hills College-Coalinga at 6p.m.

Porterville is scheduled to play nine matches on it's home court. The Pirates will host rivals Fresno City College on Oct. 11 as well College of the Sequoias on Oct. 20.

PC Men's Basketball will also be on the road to open the 2017-18 season, competing at a pair of tournaments before coming home. The Pirates first play at the season-opening San Jose City College tournament, starting on Nov. 2.  Porterville is next at the Victor Valley College Tournament on Nov. 9 before making its home debut on Nov. 15, hosting Oxnard College in a 6 p.m. non-conference game.

The Pirates return to tourney play on Dec. 8 to complete at the Skyline College Tournament and travel to Oxnard for a Dec. 20 game before opening CVC play at home vs. Merced College on Jan. 3. PC will play four of its first six conference games from home, including a Jan. 20 battle vs. rival Sequoias.

Just like last year, the Women's Basketball squad will be on the road for six tournaments to begin the season. The women get going on Nov. 9 at the Merced College tournament before making tournament stops at San Diego City, Sequoias, Fresno City, MiraCosta, and Cuesta colleges.

PC begins conference play at its home opener on Jan. 3 against Merced. The Pirates are scheduled for just six games at home during the 2017-18 season. 

Rival games on the road for both the men and women include Jan. 13 at Fresno City and Feb. 14 at Sequoias while the Pirates host COS on Jan. 20 and FCC on Feb. 7. Porterville closes the regular season at home against Reedley College on Feb. 17.
