PC highlights outstanding academic and athletic achievements

PC Director of Student Programs and Athletics Joe Cascio was proud to announce the following award winners:
Freshmen of the Year: Dominic King (Men's Basketball), Claire Nuno (Women's Tennis)
First year student-athlete, demonstrated excellence in his or her sport
Sophomores of the Year: Alfredo Vasquez (Baseball), Kathy Rodriguez (Women's Basketball)
Second year student-athlete, must have competed two years at PC, demonstrated excellence in his or her sport
Pirates of the Year: Treager Wallace (Men's Basketball), Sierra Perez (Women's Basketball)
Student-Athlete that demonstrates a "team-first" attitude, shows heart, spirit and dedication to his or her teammates and coaches
Tyler Curry Sportsmanship Award: Nico Portillo (Baseball), Auzia Mosley (Softball)
Student-Athlete who consistently displays outstanding behavior and conducted themselves with a high degree of character and good sportsmanship
Tiffanee Anderson Most Inspirational Award: Christopher Brandon (Baseball), Kuea "Kiki" Angilau (Softball)
Eligible Student-Athlete (1st or 2nd year) who has overcome personal odds/adversity and is an inspirational and valuable member of his or her team
Kathie Gifford Special Recognition Award: Diana Cabrera
Individual from campus who demonstrates interest, support and/significant contribution to PC Athletics
Above and Beyond Award: Rufus Alford
Individual from campus who demonstrates interest, support and/significant contribution to PC Athletics
Athletic Director's Award: Gracie Steidley
Special recognition for outstanding contribution to the Athletic Department
Scholar-Athletes of the Year: Alonso Valle (Men's Basketball), Alexis LaFarga (Softball)
Second-year Student-Athlete with the top overall Grade Point Average, also must have competed two years at PC
Also, 11 PC student-athletes earned President's Honors while another 16 were named to the Dean's List.
