Baseball: Porterville drops two at home vs. unbeaten Ohlone

Facing one of the hottest teams in the state, Porterville College lost a pair of non-conference games at home on Saturday, falling by scores of 18-3 and 11-0 to the unbeaten Ohlone College Renegades.

Ohlone (12-0) blew up on offense as the Renegades totaled 33 hits over both contests.

Game 1: Ohlone 18, Porterville 3
Ohlone smacked 22 hits in the opening-game of the doubleheader and blew the game open with a seven-run, second-inning. Trailing 13-0, Porterville third baseman Eric Loredo smashed a two-run home run to score Dane Wasden in the bottom of the sixth. Daniel Alviso scored PC's final run in the ninth thanks to an Ohlone wild pitch. Matt Weis took the loss for the Pirates to fall to 0-2 on the season.

Game 2: Ohlone 11, Porterville 0
The Pirates couldn't get their bats going and managed just three hits in the shutout loss to close the afternoon. Ohlone scored nine runs in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach. Brandon Spahn (1 inn.) and Jhared Gonzalez (2 inn.) pitched well, allowing no runs in relief.

Porterville, now 2-10 overall, returns to action on Tuesday (Feb. 21) when the Pirates travel to Barstow College for a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
