Porterville College tied a season-high with 10 hits but the Pirates fell behind early and couldn't come back late in a 14-10 non-conference loss to visiting Folsom Lake College on Saturday.

After snapping an eight-game losing streak on Thursday, Porterville, now 3-12, dropped its final contest before it opens Central Valley Conference play on March 7 vs. Merced at home.

Folsom Lake jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Porterville came alive with a five runs in the bottom of the second. Marcos Alvarez, Christian Sanchez, and Jordan Szolek all hit RBI singles before Jose Narvaiz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run and Dan Wasden smacked a sacrifice fly to drive in the final run of the rally.

But that 5-2 advantage didn't last long. Folsom Lake responded with a six-run rally in the third before scoring a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a commanding 11-5 lead.

But the Pirates didn't quit. In the sixth, Sanchez scored an unearned run on Wasden's fielder's choice ground out and PC added three more runs in the eighth. Moses Perez hit a two-run, pinch-hit single before Dylan Reed hit him home with a single.

Josh Sudsbury took the loss for Porterville as he allowed six runs and five hits over 2 1/3 innings. Daryn Dashner (1 1/3 innings) and Jordan Grader (1 inn), pitched well in relief by allowing no runs.

Alvarez led PC at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a RBI and run. Reed and Sanchez also had two hits each for the Pirates.
