Porterville falls 6-0 at Modesto

First baseman Nicolas Portillo had two of Porterville College's four hits in the Pirates' 6-0 loss at Mdesto Junior College on Saturday.

Despite the limited amount of base hits, PC had its chances to score but left 11 runners on base.

Alex Sarmienta and Andres Garza accounted for the Pirates' other singles.

Modesto (10-4) scored a run in the top of the first off starter Andrew Vivanco and added three more in the third. He tossed five innings and allowed the three runs and four hits. Vivanco struck out five but walked five.

Alfredo Vasquez also threw a scoreless eighth-inning with two strikeouts.

At 0-15, Porterville is still in search of its first win. The Pirates' next game scheduled for Tuesday (Feb. 27) at Compton College has been postponed with a makeup date to be announced.
