Andres Garza went 3 for 4 while Eric Loredo drove in a pair of runs for Porterville College in an 8-4 non-conference loss at Compton College on Wednesday.

Compton scored three runs in the second and third innings to take a commanding 6-2 lead.

Loredo got the Pirates on the board with an RBI single in the third that scored Garza while his fielder's choice grounder in the seventh brought in Nicolas Portillo for Porterville's final run.

Jared Hewes took the loss for PC after allowing six runs (five earned) and seven hits over four innings. Matt Cox pitched well in relief and threw a pair of scoreless frames with three strikeouts to close out the contest.

Porterville, now 0-16 overall, returns to action on Tuesday (March 6) when it opens Central Valley Conference play at Fresno City College at 3 p.m. The series moves to Porterville on Thursday and closes on Saturday back at FCC.
