Pirates close out CVC series vs. Cerro Coso with losses

Porterville College suffered consecutive losses to visiting Cerro Coso College on Friday and Saturday to close out a three-game sweep of the Central Valley Conference series. PC fell 16-1 to Cerro Coso on Friday and closed out the set with an 11-4 defeat on Saturday.

PC is now 1-21 overall and 1-5 in CVC and returns to action on Tuesday (March 20) to open another three-game conference series at College of the Sequoias.

Cerro Coso put the game out of reach early by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning and 10 more in the second.

Matt Cox went 2 for 3 to lead PC at the plate. His fielder's choice grounder in the fourth brought home Nicolas Portillo for the Pirates' lone run of the contest.

Cerro Coso 11, Porterville 4
Chris Velasco and Matt Langston both drove in two runs each while Eric Loredo had a pair of hits to lead Porterville at the plate in Saturday's defeat.

Velasco had the biggest hit of the day for PC, a two-run double in the sixth that scored Loredo and Alex Sarmienta as part of a three-run rally for the Pirates.
