Pirates rally for walk-off win over Victor Valley

A pair of bases-loaded walks in the bottom of the ninth inning led to the Porterville College Pirates' walk-off victory over visiting Victor Valley College on Tuesday. The non-conference win snapped PC's eight-game losing streak.

Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, Isaiah Gomez led off with a double before a Brandon Lozano walk and Jose Narvaiz single loaded the bases. Andres Garza followed that with a walk to force in Gomez. After a pop out and fielder's choice out at the plate, Ryan Pearce came through with a final walk to bring home Narvaiz with the game-winner.

Narvaiz went 3 for 5 to lead Porterville at the plate while Garza drove in a pair of runs while going a perfect 2 for 2. Pearce and Gomez also had two hits each, part of the Pirates' 12-hit outburst.

Alfredo Vasquez pitched well in the no decision. He allowed two runs and six hits over 6 ⅔ innings. Andrew Vivanco got the win in relief as he tossed 2 ⅓ scoreless innings while allowing just one hit.

Porterville, now 2-26 overall, returns to action on Tuesday (April 3) at 2 p.m. when the Pirates open a three-game Central Valley Conference series at West Hills College Coalinga.
