REEDLEY – The Porterville College offense couldn't get much going against four Reedley College pitchers and suffered an 11-1 loss in the opening game of a three-game Central Valley Conference series against the Tigers.
Game 2 is set for Thursday (Mar. 10) in Porterville at 2 p.m. with the finale on Saturday back in Reedley at 1 p.m.
The Pirates were held hitless over the first five innings on Tuesday. But in the top of the sixth, Luca Dincola hit a two-out single and Deven Gomez doubled to center to break up the no-hitter and shutout.
Starter Rey Castaneda took the loss for PC. He tossed 1+ innings, allowing three runs and two hits.
The loss dropped Porterville to 2-17 overall and 0-6 in conference play. PC returns to action on Wednesday (Mar. 9) at 2 p.m. when it hosts West Hills College Coalinga in a rescheduled game from Saturday that was postponed to due poor field conditions after Friday's storm.
