Pirates' Jonah Ward named State Pitcher of the Week

Porterville College sophomore Jonah Ward was named the Northern California Pitcher of the Week by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) after a pair of impressive outings for the Pirates.

On Tuesday (March 11), Ward tossed seven scoreless innings on his way to earning the win in an 11-1 victory over Coalinga College in the Central Valley Conference series opener. He allowed just three hits, struck out five and walked none.

He wrapped up the week and the series by throwing two more innings to close out a 6-5 walkoff win over the Falcons on Saturday.  He earned the victory as well, allowing one unearned run and a hit.
