Freshman guard Carlos Angel scored 17 points while freshman forward Arthur Price added 16 points in their Porterville College debut, but a dismal first half doomed the Pirates in a 94-66 loss at San Jose City College on Thursday.

Porterville couldn't get its offense going in the first half, as the Jaguars roared to a 46-26 halftime advantage. The Pirates woke up in the second half to score 40 points, but the 20 point disadvantage was too much to overcome.
