Men's Basketball: Pirates snap losing streak with CVC win vs. Reedley

Freshman Tevin Howell had a team-best 16 points and eight rebounds to help lead Porterville College to a 79-67 Central Valley Conference win over visiting Reedley College on Saturday. The victory snapped PC's four-game losing streak as the Pirates improved to 4-11 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Porterville trailed 38-34 at halftime before the Pirates got hot to open the second. PC took a 46-43 advantage with 16:24 to play and never looked back. Porterville went on to outscore Reedley 45-29 over the final 20 minutes.

Freshman Malik McCowan put together another strong game with 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists while freshman Carlos Angel also poured in 13 points as well. Freshman Darion Wilson also played a big part in the win, contributing 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists off the bench.

The Pirates look to keep the momentum going when they host Cerro Coso College in a 5 p.m. CVC game on Wednesday (Jan. 11).
