Pirates hang on for 70-64 home win over Hartnell

In his first start of the season, sophomore Darion "DJ" Wilson scored a team-high 15 points to help lead the Porterville College Pirates to a 70-64 non-conference win over visiting Hartnell College on Friday.

The win improved PC to 4-5 overall.

The Pirates led 38-24 at the break, but had to withstand a second-half surge by Hartnell that saw the Panthers outscore PC 40-32. Porterville shot 50 percent from the field, making 24 of 48 shots in the contest and also outrebounded Hartnell by a 36-28 margin.

Porterville got 12 points each from Dominic King and Treager Wallace. Wallace came up just short in a double-double with 9 rebounds. Da'Morea Green also nearly had a double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Off the bench for the Pirates, Germaine Caldwell Jr. scored 8 points and Tayshawun Bradford added 7 points.

Tonight was the first of consecutive home games on consecutive nights for the Pirates. Porterville will look to keep the momentum going when it hosts Moorpark College on Saturday (Dec. 15).
