Wilson scores 23 points in tough home loss to Moorpark

For the second straight game, sophomore Darion "DJ" Wilson the Porterville College Pirates in scoring, this time with a season-high 23 points. But PC couldn't hold a first-half lead and suffered a 73-68 loss to visiting Moorpark College on Saturday.

PC led 39-23 at the break but couldn't keep up with Moorpark in the second half and was outscored 50-29 over the final 20 minutes. 21 turnovers by the Pirates also proved costly in the loss.

Wilson was making just his second start of the season and surpassed the 20-point mark in scoring for the first time. He added 8 rebounds to his 23-point outburst.

Sophomore Da'Morea Green was the only other Pirate to score in double figures as he contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Tayshawun Bradford added 9 points while Germaine Caldwell Jr. had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Saturday's loss dropped Porterville to 4-6 overall. The Pirates have just one game remaining before they open Central Valley Conference play. PC travels to Santa Barbara City College on Dec. 29 before its conference opener on Jan. 3 at Reedley College.
