Pirates, Fermin ready for 2021-22 season opener vs. Allan Hancock

The 2021-22 men's basketball season has finally arrived. New Porterville College head coach Amaurys Fermin and his Pirates squad are ready and eager to officially hit the hardwood on Tuesday (Nov. 2) at 6 p.m. against visiting Allan Hancock College.

Following Tuesday's opener, Porterville will compete at the three-day Chabot College Gladiator Classic in Hayward starting on Thursday (Nov. 4) with an opening-round game at noon against Ohlone College.

The Pirates return home to host the Milt Stowe Classic. The two-day tourney features Bakersfield College, Moorpark College, and West Hills College Coalinga. PC takes on Bakersfield on Friday (Nov. 19) at 7 p.m. and plays Moorpark on Saturday (Nov. 20) at 3 p.m.

Porterville is scheduled to play 11 games at home this season. The Pirates open Central Valley Conference play with high hopes on Jan. 5 at Merced College. PC plays its first home CVC contest on Jan. 12 against West Hills Lemoore before hosting Fresno City College on Jan. 15.

The Pirates host College of the Sequoias in their final regular-season home game on Feb. 16 and close out conference play at Reedley College on Feb. 18.
