Pirates named No. 12 seed for NorCal Playoffs; earn seven All-CVC postseason honors

The Porterville College men's basketball team returns to the postseason for the second consecutive season. On Sunday, the Pirates were named the No. 12 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs.

Porterville is set to host No. 21 Monterey Peninsula College in a first-round game on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at Porterville College are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

The game will also be streamed live online for free at the PC Athletics YouTube channel.

The Pirates recently wrapped up the regular season with a 16-12 overall record and finished tied for second place at 9-5 in the highly-competitive Central Valley Conference under second-year head coach Amaurys Fermin. PC is currently riding a three-game winning streak and has won eight of its last 10.

Monterey Peninsula heads into the playoffs with an 11-15 overall record. The Lobos finished tied for fourth place in the Coast Conference South Division with a 5-7 mark. Wednesday night marks the first meeting between PC and MPC this season.

The winner of the contest advances to a second-round game at No. 5 West Valley College (24-4) on Saturday (Feb. 25). Three wins are needed by the Pirates to advance to the CCCAA State Championships on March 9-12 at West Hills College Lemoore in Lemoore.
