The Porterville College men's cross country team had a pair of runners compete at the Bakersfield Invitational to open the 2021 season.
The Pirates did not compile a team score, but freshman Jose Zavala led PC with his 20th-place finish. He cleared the four-mile course at Hart Park in Bakersfield with a time of 25:24. He was followed by freshman Carlos Rodriguez in 35th place, clocking in at 32:45.
Bakersfield won the men's team title with 10 points. Cuesta College's Luis Cervantes was the individual winner with his time of 22:17.
Porterville is next scheduled to compete at Hartnell College's Toro Park Invitational in Salinas on Oct. 2.
