Parra, Ramirez lead Porterville at Modesto Invitational
MODESTO – Led by a 33rd-place showing by David Parra, the Porterville College men's cross country team totaled 174 points to finish in sixth place at the Modesto Invitational.
Para cleared the four-mile course at Tuolumne Regional Park with a time of 25:08.1. Para was followed by Albert Vidales in 34th at 25:12.4.
Vanely Aguilar was next for PC in 45th at 27:56.1, followed by Aeneas Ambriz in 46th (28:26.1), Emilio Leon in 50th (30:00.1), and Messiah Jimenez in 52nd (32:40.3).
De Anza College totaled 29 points to take the men's team title while Madera College's Vidal Luna was the individual winner with his time of 20:13.9.
The Porterville women had four runners in action at the meet but did not have the five required participants to earn a team score.
Leading the way for the PC women was Lizbeth Ramirez. She took 12th place, clearing the 5,000-meter course with her time of 22:22.4. Liliana Hidalgo was next for the Pirates in 21st with a time of 24:10.3. She was followed by Itzel Ferrer in 26th (25:33.8) and Haley Castillo in 31st (27:18.8).
Up next for the Pirates is The Mater's University Cross Country Invitational on Oct. 5 in Santa Clarita.
