Porterville women third, men fourth at CVC Championships
FRESNO – Lizbeth Ramirez was 18th for the Porterville College women while David Parra was 24th for the Pirate men to lead the PC women's and men's cross country teams at the 2024 Central Valley Conference Championships. The event was held at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Ramirez had the team's top showing to lead Porterville to a team score of 77 points and third place. She cleared the 5,000-meter course with a season-best time of 22:21.2.
Ramirez was followed by Liliana Hidalgo in 20th at 22:46.9. Haley Castillo was 30thy with 25:34.9, Itzel Ferrer was next in 31st at 26:03.1, and Alondra Mora finished 33rd with a time of 26:52.2. Hidalgo, Castillo, and Mora also ran season-best times.
Host Clovis Community College won the team title with a score of 23 points while Rhiannon Walker was the individual winner with her time of 18:24.2.
On the men's side, Parra ran 25:53.8 on the four-mile course to lead the Pirates to team score of 109 points and a fourth-place showing.
Vanely Aguilar was next for PC in 32nd with his time of 28:22.8. He was followed by Emilio Leon in 32nd (28:51.9), Messiah Jimenez in 36th (31:30.7), Aeneas Ambriz in 38th (26:14.3), and Isaiah Perez in 39th (36:16.8.
The times by Leon, Jimenez, and Perez were all season-best marks.
Clovis took the men's team title with 27 points while Madera Community College's Vidal Luna won the race with his time of 21:02.3.
Up next for Porterville is the Northern California Regional Championships on Nov. 8 at Toro Park in Salinas.
