Porterville cruises to 55-30 rout at Taft

Breyanna Hernandez scored 10 points while Jordan Keene grabbed 11 rebounds to help lead the Porterville College women's basketball team to a 55-30 win at Taft College on Saturday.

The Central Valley Conference victory brought an end to the Pirates' seven-game losing streak and improved PC to 4-22 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Porterville got off to a good start, going ahead of Taft 15-9 after the first quarter. The Pirates built a 31-17 advantage at halftime before cruising to the rout.

Hernandez was the lone Pirate to score in double digits. She added 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Keene came up huge on the boards while also scoring 6 points to go along with 3 assists. Victoria Peyron contributed 9 points while Ashley Campos had 8 points off the bench.

For Taft (2-24, 0-11 CVC), Sam Washburn scored a game-high 11 points while Sydney Taylor had 11 rebounds and 4 points.

Just two games remain for the Pirates as they close out the season this week. On Wednesday (Feb. 19), Porterville plays at College of the Sequoias before hosting Reedley in the season finale on Saturday (Feb. 21). Both games are set for 5 p.m.
