PORTERVILLE – It's been a tough opening to the 2023 Porterville College women's soccer season. On Tuesday, the Pirates likely played their best game of the year but still came up short in a 2-0 Central Valley Conference loss to visiting Taft College.

Goalkeeper Kathleen Ochoa did all she could to keep Porterville in the contest. Ochoa was under attack all game but came away with a season-high 10 saves.

She allowed a first-half goal to Taft in the 20^th minute and the Cougars' final tally in the 50^th.

With the loss, Porterville fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Central Valley Conference play. The Pirates are back in action on Friday (Sep. 22) when they travel to Merced College for a CVC game.
