Pirates continue season at Lobo Invitational
CARAMEL VALLEY – Porterville College freshman Lizbeth Ramirez finished in 15th place while sophomore David Parra took 34th to lead the Pirates' women's and men's cross country teams at the Lobo Invitational hosted by Monterey Peninsula College.
Ramirez cleared the 5,000-meter course at Palo Corona Regional Park with a time of 23:33.8 to lead the PC women. Joining her in the top-25 was Liliana Hidalgo in 21st place at 25:07.7.
Other finishers for the Pirates included Itsel Ferrer in 31st (27:25.8), Haley Castillo in 36th (28:28.8), Alondra Mora in 37th (28:57.0), and Melissa Ayon in 40th (29:16.4).
Itandehui Olea from Allan Hancock College was the women's individual winner with a time of 19:40.6.
For the Porterville men, Parra turned in a time of 26:12.9 on the four-mile course to lead PC. Not far behind him was Albert Vidales in 36th at 26:19.6.
A Porterville pack of three runners closed out the race. Aeneas Ambriz was 44th (29:05.2), followed closely by Vanely Aguilar in 44th (29:05.2), and Emilio Leon in 46th (29:10.08).
Allan Hancock's John Gutierrez won the men's race with a time of 20:19.8.
The Pirates return to action on Sep. 27 when they will compete at the Modesto Invitational.
